Speedometer App
Synosure Tech ("we," "us," or "our") built Speedometer as an ad-supported application. The app is provided at no cost and is intended for use as is.
This Privacy Policy explains what information may be accessed, processed, collected, or shared when you use the Speedometer app.
Information We Use
1. Location Data
Speedometer uses your device's location to provide its core speed and trip-tracking features.
The app may request:
- Precise or approximate location (ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION / ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION) to calculate your current speed, trip distance, maximum speed, average speed, and related trip information.
- Foreground location service access so an active trip can continue operating after you leave the app or turn off the screen, provided that tracking was started by you.
Speedometer does not request the Android ACCESS_BACKGROUND_LOCATION permission.
While active tracking is running, Android displays an ongoing foreground-service notification.
Location measurements used for speed and distance calculations are processed by the app as part of the active trip. We do not operate an external server that stores your GPS location history, and we do not sell your precise location data.
The app's compass functionality uses device sensors such as the accelerometer and magnetic-field sensor rather than requiring your GPS location to determine compass heading.
2. Notifications
On supported Android versions, Speedometer may request notification permission.
Notifications are used primarily to display the ongoing foreground-service notification while speed and trip tracking are active.
You may manage notification permission through your Android device settings.
Advertising and Third-Party Services
Speedometer uses Google AdMob / Google Mobile Ads Next-Gen SDK to display advertisements.
According to Google's documentation, the Google Mobile Ads SDK may automatically collect and share information such as:
- IP address, which may be used to estimate general location;
- user interactions with the app and advertisements;
- diagnostic and performance information; and
- device or account identifiers, including the Android advertising ID where available.
Google states that this information may be used for purposes including advertising, analytics, and fraud prevention.

You can also manage certain Google advertising preferences through Google's advertising controls.
Consent and Privacy Options
Where required by applicable law or Google's advertising policies, Speedometer uses Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to present consent or privacy choices related to advertising.
When Google determines that privacy options must be available, the app provides a Privacy Options entry that allows you to review or change applicable consent choices.
The Privacy Policy option in the app is separate from Google's Privacy Options and opens this privacy policy.
Diagnostic Information
Third-party services used by the app, including Google's advertising SDK, may process diagnostic and performance information such as app launch information, crashes or errors associated with the SDK, performance information, and interactions with advertising services.
This information may be used to operate, secure, diagnose, analyze, and improve those services.
Data Retention
Speedometer does not operate an external database for storing your GPS trip history.
Data collected independently by third-party service providers is retained according to those providers' respective privacy policies and retention practices.
Your Choices
Depending on your device, location, and applicable law, you can control certain data uses by:
- granting or denying location permission;
- granting or denying notification permission;
- stopping active speed tracking;
- changing advertising preferences through your device or Google account;
- using the in-app Privacy Options entry when it is made available by Google UMP; and
- resetting or deleting your device's advertising identifier through supported Android privacy settings.
Disabling location permission will prevent Speedometer's GPS speed and trip-distance features from functioning correctly.
Security
We value the security of user information and use reasonable measures appropriate to the services provided by the app.
However, no method of electronic transmission or storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Links to Other Sites
Speedometer may contain advertisements or links that lead to websites or services operated by third parties.
We do not control those third-party websites or services and are not responsible for their content, privacy policies, or practices. We recommend reviewing the privacy policy of any third-party service you visit.
Children's Privacy
Speedometer is not specifically designed to collect personal information from children under the age of 13.
We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information directly to us, please contact us so that we can review the matter and take appropriate action.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.
Any changes will be posted on this page, and the effective date may be updated accordingly. You are encouraged to review this Privacy Policy periodically.
